Let The Music Play

 

I had so much fun with this card. I cut up die cuts to make different shapes and used two of my fav colors, pink and green. I named it "Let The Music Play" after the song by Barry White. Who doesn't like Barry? In fact. I'm listening to it while I write this post!

This is an "extra challenge" where we get to make a 3-D card! I used an image Heather e-mailed to me to use for the facebook challenge. I wanted to do something different, so I fussy cut the pumpkins to make 3 layers. I colored the first layer you see from the stamp. Then, I printed out 2 more. The first layer, I cut all 3 pumpkins, colored and attached with pop-up dots. Next, I cut just the two outside pumpkins, colored them and attached with more pop-up dots. It looks better in real life than in the photo! I'm having so much fun with these images and using my new Copic markers!

Playing With Copics

 

I'm absolutely amazed by the talent I see from my blends using Copic markers. This is a new beginning for me, so please don't be too harsh! I just got my first set of markers and I'm having so much fun. I feel like I'm around a 3rd grade level right now, but I've signed up for my first class and I figure with a lot of practice, I will get better. In the meantime, I'm having loads of fun and already learning so much. Some things I've learned....
1.) StazOn is not the best ink pad to use. Memento Tuxedo Black is recommended.
2.) My printer is just an inkjet and it works fine for digi stamps.
3.) Hair and shading are my biggest quests.
4.) There's no such thing as too many digi stamps!
5.) Copics make you feel like a kid again (I like that!)
6.) Paper Glaze works great over colors. No bleeding!
That being said, I will humbly share with you what I've done so far.

Okay, back to more coloring, fun, and learning!

Unique Crafters Challenge #7 ~ Anything Goes

 

Wow! It's hard to believe that we're already going into the eighth month at Unique Crafters! I remember their first month. I made a stacked set of wedding boxes that formed a wedding cake and entered it in Lollipop Crafts Challenge Blog. While perusing through the other entries (yeah, I do look at the other entries), I found Carol and her blog, CMDesign, and noticed that she entered her beautiful card in Unique Crafters Challenge #1. I'd never heard of this challenge blog, so I clicked on the link and, WOW! I was so impressed! This was their first challenge and they were awesome! The whole blog blew me away! I liked their ideas and where they wanted to go with this brand new challenge blog. Needless to say, I entered. I was just so excited to find such a fab blog. I had no idea I would win! But, I DID! I won a BIG prize (and I'm still having so much fun with all the goodies!).
I continued to enter every month. There wasn't one challenge that I missed.
The beginning of May brought the opportunity for me to be a Guest Designer! Oh happy day! After that I got to stay on full time and the rest is history! Every month I get to include my creations with some of the best crafters on the planet! It's such an honor. Thanks to everyone at Unique Crafters Challenge Blog for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful blog!
And, it just keeps getting better. We have some changes in the works; new categories, lots of fabulous prizes, contests liked you've never seen! I can't wait. This month we're going all out and you won't want to miss it!

I just got a new Cricut cartridge, "Over the Hill" and want to share with you the first "little pretty" I made using it. I cut it from pearl cardstock, coated it with Paper Glaze, and added just a bit of sparkle glitter. The Paper Glaze helped give it more body and was an easy way to apply the glitter.

It's A Boy!

I'm so excited about the upcoming birth of my second grandchild! He is due early October and I can't wait! I made this sweet keepsake box for him and of course, soon I'll start working on one for Chandler, my first grandson who will be 5 years old in January. I'm going to fill it full with goodies for Amanda's baby shower.

Wow! What a fun month we're going to have! This month at Unique Crafters we are all dancing in glitter with our shiny shoes! Yes, it's time for Challenge #6, "Glitter and Shine". One very talented winner will receive a fabulous prize package from our sponsor, Scrapbook Unique! There will be 3 runners up, as well.

Creating anything with glitter is the most fun I can have making a big mess! But, I do think it's worth it. Glitter seems to get one's attention and that was exactly my point in making my Fleur de Lis and Geaux Saints stand.
Okay, I'm a HUGE Saints fan and have been for years.....when they were the "aints" I still supported them and it's paid off. Who thought the Saints would ever make it to the Super Bowl? I'm hoping to see them there again. Soon.
Now that you've seen how I can "glitter and shine", I want to see what crafty ideas you have up your sleeve (or craft room). So, get out all those shiny baubbles and beads, sprinkle glitter over everything, and enter this month's challenge!
I used a balloon weight for the base of my stand and LOTS of Paper Glaze! The letters are from Cricut Storybook cartridge. The Fleur de Lis is white cardstock painted gold, then covered on glitter. The edge is painted black (to give it a little depth) and sealed with Paper Glaze.
